best.run.ever.

So I have to start with a back story. Well, kind of. I'm sure you all are wondering why the heck I'm engaged when I've told you all a million times that Jasper is leaving the country for three years and not allowed to be married while he's in the MSG program. Well, unfortunately he was dropped from the program for some reasons that many, including myself, do not agree with. It has been so frustrating and heartbreaking because this was his goal long before he met me. I was completely devastated for him. But Jenna, now he comes home and everything goes back to how it was before he left, right? Wrong. This is the Marine Corps people! Haha

So after we realized he wasn't getting new orders anytime soon and since he was stuck in Quantico, I decided to take my trip out to see him anyway. So I flew out to see him on Wednesday. I was really excited because now that he's not in school, he was allowed to stay with me overnight at my hotel every night! No more curfews! Thursday he had work most of the day/night so I spent my evening alone, shopping at the mall and just relaxing and exploring. Jasper told me to look up some places to go running and look up a few other places so I did. Friday our plan was to go running with my new running shoes but they didn't fit right so we spent pretty much alllllll day trying to find me a new pair! Finally we did and we went to our hotel and changed so we could go for a run. I had found a super cool forest with trails and a stream and everything the day before and really wanted to go there so we went.

We took off running and I was like damn I am out of shape! It was pretty hilly and there were lots of tree stumps so I couldn't move as quickly as I wanted to. Jasper is much much much faster than I am and I kept telling him I didn't mind if he wanted to go a little ahead of me and that I would catch up. He would run ahead then wait for me and then run ahead and wait again. It was fun and beautiful. We came around a bend and there was a big hill that was all twisty and turny and there were tons of tree branches (very spartanesque, mind you). Jasper pushed up the hill and I was tagging along slowly but surely. I was huffing and puffing when I finally got to the top. He was waiting for me and I was going on a rant about how out of shape and out of breath I felt and he goes "babe just lean on the stump if you need to" and I look over and there's a big ole tree stump with a box with a ring on it. I looked at Jasper and was like "OMG BABE!" And he got on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes and he slid the ring on my finger and I jumped on him and kissed him. We had a little moment and the we kept running! Haha. I was just running and tearing up and kept saying OMG OMG OMG. It was so perfect. It was SOOOO me. He knows me so well and I was the happiest girl alive. Once our run was done we called our parents (hence the sweaty fb picture) and then drove home and got ready to go on a hot date to the national harbor. It was a perfect night. We got all pretty and went to a nice restaurant and toasted and talked about weddings and marriage and our future together.

The next day we got up and headed to Arlington and DC for the day. We had fun exploring and learning and discovering things. Then we found a coffee shop nearby and after a horrible parking fiasco grabbed some coffee and a cupcake at this cute little place in Georgetown.

Sunday was a relaxing day as we decided to watch some football and even looked at some new townhomes that are being built out there for fun. Jasper had overnight duty Sunday night so I dropped him off and slept a few hours then went and got him this morning. After breakfast and sleep I was pretty much on my way back to the airport.

I couldn't have asked for a better trip. I left with a fiance and just a sense of uber happiness. The only reason I'm sad is because I don't know when I get to see Jasper again. For all of you that are wondering when and where the wedding will be, you'll have to ask the Marine Corps! Haha seriously though, once we find out what his orders are we can move forward with our plans but until then, please say a prayer for him and us as being dropped from school obviously has taken its toll on him. I know it's in God's hands what happens next and I have so much faith that this all is happening for a reason. Life is a crazy journey but I wouldn't want it any other way. Thank you everyone for all of your love and support!
