my morning started off late. ya know, liiiike 9:30AM late. yes, i know, what a lazy freakin' bum, but serrrriously, i only have a few days of summer left until full blown chaos of a life so im soaking up all the rest i can!
first off, i am house sitting this week, so my food is a little off. it's hard to function without all your normal conveniences around (ahem, cinnamon!) but i made-do with what i had in front of me. for breakfast, 4 egg whites, two slices of julian sourdough low-carb bread and a 1/2 cup of oatmeal with 1tbsp of honey.
can i just say, honey in oatmeal = DELICIOUSNESS! today was a delicious food day.
ok after that i mixed up three different drinks. drink #1, SciVation green apple BCAAs. I drink them pre-during-post-workout. today i ran on the treadmill so i used it to hydrate while i was running. the middle drink is my multi-vitamin. its powder you just mix with water and preferably drink with a meal, so i had that right after breakfast. the last one is a protein shake. just protein powder and water. mix that sucker up, throw it in the freezer and then i bring it in my gym bag for post-workout nutrition. if it's a good day, it's still cold when i finish my workout and sometimes like a slushee... umm hellllllllooo yum!
so when i got home from the gym, i knew i wanted a decent, healthy lunch. i heated up some asparagus i had steamed a few days before, two turkey patties that i cooked the night before and had some grapes with it. oh, and of course a ton of water.
following that lunch, i grabbed one of my favorite snacks. GREEN APPLE AND ALMOND BUTTER! mmm mmm good.
i then posted my booty up at starbucks for a few hours to study. i enjoyed my go-to drink, a venti iced coffee with sugar free vanilla and non-fat milk. heaven in a cup. MY cup, by the way. :)
so now because i'm house sitting in a nice big kitchen with every utensil imagined, i decided to cook! i've been following Jamie Eason and she always posts the most amazing healthy recipes. so i made two tonight. the first one was her turkey meatloaf muffins. the only thing i cheated on was the chipotle pepper spice. i couldnt find it at stater bros, then i found it at albertsons... for NINE DOLLARS. umm i'll use chili powder instead, thanks. mind you - i'm not a professional, and i only took like two pictures while cooking them, but i did enjoy them for dinner with some steamed broccoli covered in soy sauce and a delicious flavored sparkling water.
yes, i chopped those allllll byyy myyyseeellllllfff....
aren't they so stinkin' cute!
then i made her pumpkin protein bars. hooooly squashamole. being as im obsessed with fall and everything that has to do with that season, i looooove all things PUMPKIN. pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin seeds, and now PUMPKIN PROTEIN BARS. they are simply amazing. the perfect guilt-free treat or small snack. i highly recommend them. i cheated on this recipe too, however. i substituted the xylitol brown sugar blend for splenda brown sugar blend because i couldnt find the xylitol in any stores in the temecula area. when googled, i could only find to buy it online. :/ but it's alllllll good because they came out fantastic.
ok and yes, i ate
soooo there you have it, what i ate wednesday. hope you enjoyed, i tried! :)
