this is how we do it

oh yes, montell jordan, this IS how we do it... haha :) the jam for sure.

annnnnnyway... i talk too much. and share with people my feelings and minute details about my life. and all y'all really wanna know is HOW i do the things i do. and i never ever share that with you. so today, i will give you a lil bit. cuz all anyone really needs is a lil bit... not to quote 50 cent or anything... wow ok on to the details.

when i decided to start this half marathon training i was nervous. i knew that i could schedule in runs, but what would that do to my gym times?? i absolutely love and live for the gym. its my me time, but so is running. lifting, cardio sessions, HIIT workouts, and running are all things i LOVE. so i didn't want to give any of them up! so i sat down with my brother and we made a GP (game plan for those of you who dont know the awesome acronym).

this is how we set it up:

#1 priority: running
#2 priority: 2 p4l classes a week (because i pay a lot of freakin' $ to go there and i can't live without it!)
#3 priority: lifting

so, with all that in mind here's what we came up with.

monday: p4l class & legs
tuesday: chest/triceps/forearms & short run (treadmill usually)
wednesday: long run & abs
thursday: NOTHING BUT REST!
friday: p4l class & short run
saturday: long run & shoulders/abs
sunday: back/biceps & short run

so it sounds insane. and yes, i am a little. but i got nervous. i thought maybe i'd be like one of those psycho over trained people and kill myself. i read this article today on yahoo! about overtraining and it's NOT me. why is it NOT me? well, because i'm not that stupid. if i'm exhausted, i won't workout. i also know my limits. if i am working out extra hard that day, i'll eat more and try and sleep more that night. i have priorities. and like i said, running comes first. so i won't train other parts of my body if it's going to take a toll on my running. it's important to be smart about these things.

i also have been trying to carb cycle for the past three weeks. it was working for a week and a half and then BAM. i was exhausted. it was probably a combination of not sleeping enough and not eating correctly, but i ate carbs like whoa the past 5 days or so. i'm still trying to figure out exactly what type of diet works best for my body. with that said, i'll share my diet, more food & meal ideas, in a week or two.

so yeah, if you're going to train hard, be SMART about it, please! :)
