getting the pie right and OMG 12 days...

only twelve days until i run my first half marathon. thats 12 days until i run the longest distance i have ever run in my entire 24 years on this earth. hollllllllllllllllyyyyy guacamole. i.am.so.effing.excited. :D

so how's my training going?! well, when we last, umm, spoke? i needed to run 5 miles friday and 12 miles saturday. in all actuality however, i ran 5 miles friday along with two killer leg workouts so i took saturday AND sunday off. that's okay though. it felt good to rest again. i don't want to be exhausted come race day. i ran 4.5 monday and sprinted a mile yesterday (i honestly dont know why) and tonight i'm running 6. from here on out, i'm following the training schedule to a T. which means my normal gym routine will be a little thrown off but i don't care because the big day is almost here!

as for my diet, i've been trying super hard to eat as clean as possible the last couple days and it's been working great. i feel good. i want to be in tip-top nutrition shape when i run so i don't have any crap holding me down. my goal is to eat 50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fats... which is harder than i thought because the carb sources i was eating were all "low carb" oriented. but i'm trying! and coming super close. i've mentioned it before but on sparkpeople theres the end of the day chart that has a little pie graph with your carb-protein-fat percentages and i use and abuse that chart trying to get it right haha. it's HARD!

now it's like the calm before the storm. i need to make a decision on all the logistics of that weekend. i took monday and tuesday following my race off because it's an important time! my adorable nephew is actually turning one the tuesday after my race. it's going to be chaos. i actually had a bad dream the other night about missing the start of the race because it all seems so overwhelming. trying to figure out how i'll get to the starting line, who is going early with me, what i'm going to wear, what i'm planning on keeping with me, how i'm going to find my family after, how i'm going to clean up a bit after so i can DRINK with friends... so this is what my weekend will look like:

friday - drive to convention center to pick up my race packet
saturday - jeremy's 1st birthday party
sunday - race day
monday - rest day
tuesday - disneyland for jeremy's actual birthday

sleep?? where are you sleep?? haha... most importantly, i'm doing the unthinkable. i'm taking the entire week after my race OFF of working out. no running, no gym, nothing. i haven't done that since before i started vbl in september and it is LONG overdue. my poor body. it will definitely thank me for it. then after that i'll have two weeks to work up my speed for the VBL 5k. that should be fun! past participants and trainers from the challenge i did are competing in a 5k in wine country to help support the charity. fun times with fun people. :)

goals for this week: clean eating, stick to training, sleep, figure out logistics of next weekend.

happy wednesday! :D and i'll leave you with a song that got me through my 8mi run last week... hahaha...
