it's all in your head

okay, so anything in life that you want to accomplish can be done. it's all in your head. i realized this today after i set a PR (personal record) for my 5k at 24:49. what was my goal? under 25. did i meet it? heck yes i did! what did i say 100 times? "i don't care if it's 24:59..." so WHY was i so MAD at myself?!?!?! because it's all in my head. deep, deep down, i knew i could have done better than that. so what made me NOT do better? hmm.... let's see... running is my thing. i do it to clear my mind, which is why i run alone. A-L-O-N-E. so when i'm on a course, with hundreds of other people, in my way, distracting me, i could not get into that mindset today. which is usually when i turn to my lovely iPod for some assistance. but for some reason, no songs could get me going today. i got into it for like 30 seconds and i was like yessss, this is where i want to be, and BAM, gone. it's kind of like doing yoga. you need to repeat to yourself that you are relaxed. i needed to tell myself that i was running and not pay attention to the crazy people around me, in my way, and changing the song on my iPod.

but guess what? i set a personal record. i got an awesome medal for finishing in the top 250. i was actually 152nd in females out of about 500. and ... wait for it.. it has NOTHING to do with the race... but it's amazing.... I LOST ANOTHER % OF BODY FAT!!!!!!!!!!!

we were at the expo (you know where you get all the free crap) and they had a thing that tests your body fat. i was like hmmmm... motivation? i think so! so i did it and i'm down to 26%... which is average... AVERAGE?! i love being average!! haha :) so my weight has not gone down, but my body fat has, woooohoo!

my words of advice? YOU can achieve ANYTHING you put your mind to. set goals that are attainable, yet you need to work hard for and you will see how much you truly can accomplish. put yourself in the shoes of what you want to be, and nothing less than that.

next up, a 10k in 4 weeks! under an hour? I THINK SO!.. will there be a different goal for that one soon? YES.

real quick before we depart... my brother brought up this hilarious tool to use as a motivator to make you feel GREAT. after honestly doing it.. jokingly.. it makes you feel AWESOME... maybe i should have done it before my run?!

so serrrrriously, i know it sounds silly, but TRY IT sometime... just try it ;)
