sooo let's get down to the fun stuff:
my menu this week was pretty easy because i knew i had leftover pasta sauce from this recipe i cooked in week one. i also knew i had turkey burgers, veggies and chicken in my freezer. soooo now what?? this is how the menu went (sorry, no pic this week):
egg muffins
oatmeal
brown rice pasta w/ leftover sauce
turkey burgers
chicken w/stir fry veggies and brown rice
as you can see, simple. am i tired of the food yet? no... honestly, i mix up what i eat for lunch and dinner and sometimes even breakfast. as long as it is a different meal, i don't get tired of eating the same foods. and someone once said something along the lines of "you have to eat boring to have an exotic body, or eat exotic to have a boring body"... ok so that is horribly truthful but you get the point. ;)
annnnyywho... i only went to winco this week. why? because i only needed a couple things. my grocery list looked like this:
no joke!!! :) and that made me happy!!! so at the store i did run into one smalllllll issue. the rockstar energy drinks were on sale for 98 cents each. now, lesbihonest here (please tell me you got that pitch perfect reference), rockstars are definitely NOT the best thing to drink. please don't comment on all the bazillion side effects that they have and how they're going to kill me and whatever else you want to say, i know, i've heard, i still drink them, the end. but truthfully, i would stop at the gas station once a day or every other day and buy 2 for $3 or 2 for $4 and it adds up! so i bought six at winco for 98 cents each and i still spent......
$12.67!!! holla!!!
i also decided to look up a crockpot oatmeal recipe and made this one here. it is pretty good! super easy, but definitely needs a little something else... maybe more cinnamon??

i know, i know that oatmeal looks disgusting but really, who can take a good looking picture of oatmeal!? |
as for workouts, i finally have a good schedule going and i'm starting to train for the inagural san diego holiday half at the end of december along with, of course, the SPARTAN RACE in malibu at the beginning of december. today, however, my brother put me through the ringer and had me do this "strongman cardio" workout with him. good thing it was "leg day" for me... what we did was put one 45lb plate on and pull then push the sled 40 ft, then add a plate and repeat until the sled was full (5 45lb plates... 225lbs!) then we pushed and pulled until 20mins was up... hollllllllllly moly. here's a video of me doing one...
hopefully my legs don't hate me too much to run 5 miles tomorrow!
so coming up next week for the finale of body on a budget, i will shop for two adults and one child (3 year old) on a budget and see what happens!! stay tuned!!
