so starting off, as i left the gym tonight and thought of what the first thing out of my mouth would be when i talked to carlos, anthony and my mom all i could think of was "THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!".
i was of course nervous, but the nerves wore off quickly. it's such an amazing group of people to workout with when you know you're all working toward the same goal. it also helps a lot having the most supportive coaches cheering you on.
so for those of you that want the short of it, i had a BLAST and wish i could go again tomorrow!
when i got there i mingled around with my teammates until it was time to start. the first thing we did was jog to the edge of the parking lot and back. it was good. next we stretched out really good and warmed up.
now for the fun to begin. we basically wanted to have a marker so that in 12 weeks, we can see how far we've come. our first feat, run two laps around the gym. when we were told this, i told myself i would run the entire way, and i did! i ran two laps in 6 minutes exactly. woohoo. not too bad!
next we went inside and were told to hold a plank as long as we could and as people dropped, he would call out our times. i thought to myself, man, this is going to be tough! i had no real goals for this task. so we started out and he yelled 30 seconds, my body/arms/legs were shaking. i kept going. then he said 60 seconds, i was like "wow! it's been a whole minute, come on jenna!!" then he said 75 seconds and i thought, "i can go to 80" then he said 80 seconds and i thought "i can go to 90" then he said 85.. and i thought, "man, that was the longest 5 seconds of my life!" then he said 90 and my legs dropped. a minute and 30 seconds! i'm impressed with myself!
after that we did 4 exercises for 20 seconds each. first were squats, then moutain climbers, then jumping jacks, then push ups. the first set was good for me, i was popping up quick and getting em all in. i actually did regular push ups for the entire 20 seconds!! then the second one, i started off strong but man, those mountain climbers were hard! by the third one i was like "yee!" but i kept pushing myself. my mountain climbers and push ups lacked a bit, but i did my best. after that we took some deep breaths and i thought to myself "there's no way that's all we're gonna do" and to my guess, he yelled "one more set!" so i did it. but i dont really remember doing it. haha :)
so the floor where we work out is turf, you know, fake grass. here is a picture of my battle wounds from that darn plank. also- i'm icing my legs as a precautionary measure. (so i can walk tomorrow)
all-in-all it was a wonderful workout!
more tomorrow! :)
